Moscow - Red Square - The Kremlin

Though the outskirts of the city isn't so pretty (most cities are this way yeah?) the center of Moscow is beautiful! They have some great architecture, though it's a lot different from St. Petersburg because Moscow is a hodge podge of different styles. There are old onion dome churches right next to skyscrapers. It's a mix of old and new. In the very center of the city lies red square surrounded by the Kremlin, a big red brick wall with towers. Inside are museums, churches, a huge shopping center, Lenin's Mausoleum and government buildings. I took a lot of pictures here so I'm trying to break it down into categories. These photographs are of the outside of the Kremlin and the wall itself.

If there is one thing I didn't think to get before leaving, it's a wide angle lens. It would have been soooo nice to have one, but since I don't I've been taking lots of panoramas. This image is combined of several photos, hence the man being shown three times. Didn't expect that to show up in the picture but it looks kind of neat.


This is the tomb of the unknown soldier, where guards keep watch, standing perfectly still, until they're replacement comes every hour. Anyone can come here and pay they're respects.


There is a copper circle on the ground that is supposed to be the exact center of Moscow, people will stand on it and throw a coin while making a wish. Of course, within seconds the coin will be snatched up by someone. This is Seth, wishing for our trip to be fun.


This is a big clock, the dome will slowly rotate to show the times in different cities around the world.
